Riff Raff.. The Must Have Accessory for Summer…

The Raffia Bag

The Raffia Bag

Raffia is most definitely having a huge moment in the Fashion World this Summer. Its the most sought after material being used for the iconic ‘it bags’ of the season.

Why? My guess would be, that its a very sustainable fabric, and that’s really the priority of every fashion house right now, and so it bloody should be! Plus, it doesn’t come with a huge price tag meaning that its affordable and in aspirational reach for those who would like purchase a ‘designer bag’ at a fraction of the price of a leather counterpart.

The thing I love most about these raffia bags, is that they are versatile. Their at home on the beach, traveling with you, or in the countryside accompanying you on a picnic. They even work for city living and the only requirement is that your raffia bag is reserved for Summer dressing, it doesn’t really work too well in the Winter unless going long haul!

Facts about your Raffia bag…

What is Raffia?

Raffia is made form the segment of the leaves on the palmyra palm, a tree native to regions of Africa, the Philippines and Latin America.

What does it feel like?

You would have thought its all itchy but actually its not, Raffia is soft, pliable, strong durable and biodegradable.

What’s its star quality?

It can get wet! Make sure you spot clean it thought, with small dabs of water.

How Sustainable?

The fabric.. very! Its also biodegradable but the carbon footprint isnt great if your buying it from the US, UK or Europe.
