Tanked up….

As the days get warmer and longer, tanks are a great option to wear. They are the key shape of the Spring season when it comes to jumpers. This year they are particularly popular, your going to be spoilt for choice.

There’s two opposing looks that are both in fashion. Either, you opt for the super chic monochrome ( see this one from Cefinn) vibe, very good worn with over sized shirts, skinny jeans or black trousers. Or you go down the Arts and Crafts road which has got that hand knitted, bright coloured vibe going on. The latter looks great totally miss matched, worn with patterned tops, skirts or dresses. Its that arsty look where, kind of anything goes.

Tanks for your questions…

If you have got a bigger chest arn’t tanks really unflattering to wear?

No absolutely not. What you have to do to make the fitted look of a tank work for you, is go for an oversized version. Go up a size so your top is baggy. That way the material wont cling to you. A plain colour option is also best and it works well if you wear a darker colour contrasting on your bottom half. Dressing should be all about balance.

I really want to wear a bright knitted tank but Im a bit scared?

Don’t be. Make sure the rest of your outfit is as bright and beautiful as you vibrant tank. Go all out. Wear a dress in a bold print and your fair isle knit on top. You want the prints to really clash as that way it become a total miss match, both patterns vie for attention ultimately cancelling each other out.

What’s the best way to wear them?

What i love about these tanks are that they are so versatile, seasonless and really do look good on everybody worn with practically anything - even shorts! They work so well worn on top of different patterns and prints. Can be teamed with anything in your wardrobe including trouser suits, dresses and with your jeans. Tanks are just like an accessory, a bit like your favourite scarf, you can throw them over anything and they will look good.

I don’t want to look like an art teacher?

Then the oversized black and white look is for you. It really can be so elegant and there are big chunky versions available, some of these almost act as a mid season coat. Wear them with skinny jeans, trainers and a lovely shirt underneath and i promise you this look will work.

Top of the tanks are…
